The Information Communication Technology Department offers Diploma and Craft Certificate programmes.

Diploma Programmes.

The department offers Diploma in ICT & Diploma in Information Science ; This courses are aimed at imparting ICT knowledge, skills and attitudes to students leading to productive employment and job creation in sectors such Software development, Database administration, Network Design and Administration, Systems intergration,Telecommunications among others.

At the end of the relevant diploma course the trainee should be able to:

  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation by developing both desktop and online applications
  • Acquire skills and knowledge required in designing, troubleshooting and deploying computer networks
  • Understand the concepts and functions of computer operating systems.
  • Acquire knowledge on computer hardware maintenance and support.
  • Understand the principles of computer aided design and financial applications
  • Acquire relevant entrepreneurial skills relevant to the ICT sector
  • Acquire firm foundation for further training in the ICT industry
  • Craft Certificate Programmes

    The department also offers craft certificate in Information Technology and Craft certificate in Library Science which aims at imparting practical skills to trainees to become computer technicians and ICT assistants. In addition the trainee acquires practical ICT skills that are relevant in the modern changing science and technology field.

    At the end of the craft certificate course the trainee should be able to:

  • Troubleshoot and repair computer hardware and related accessories
  • Understand the concepts and functions of computer operating systems
  • Acquire relevant entrepreneurial skills relevant to the ICT sector
  • Understand the principles of research and development in the ICT sector
  • Understand the principles of computer aided design and financial applications
  • Acquire skills in ICT fundamentals, desktop and developer applications and network administration
  • Mode of Delivery

    The mode of for both Diploma and Craft Certificate programmes includes structured coursework, Computer laboratory sessions, educational trips and industrial attachment. The department’s objective is to produce Diploma and Certificate graduates who meet the market demand and also equip trainees with relevant knowledge; skills, attitudes and values to enable them serve as professional ICT graduates.


    ICT being a pillar of the vision 2030 the department offers training that is geared towards practical training in areas such as software development, computer hardware and associated peripherals troubleshooting, repair uand maintenance,computer networks deployment and maintenance, database systems administration & management, data capture, processing, storage and security among others.

    The ICT department also offers basic ICT training to other students in the institute irrespective of their area of specialization. The department also extends its services to the entire college by facilitating all the ICT related services such as internet connectivity, ICT support and Computers & related accessories maintenance.

    The department’s objective is to produce Diploma and Certificate graduates who meet the market demand and also equip trainees with relevant knowledge; skills, attitudes and values to enable them serve as professional ICT graduates.
